Laminate Flooring Maintenance & Care

Keep your laminate floors looking their best for years to come.

Proper Cleaning & Maintenance of Laminate Floors

Correct laminate flooring cleaning and maintenance will help protect your floor and extend its lifespan. Remove dust and dirt regularly using a soft broom, vacuum or microfibre mop, and wipe up spills immediately to prevent moisture from entering the joints. Laminate flooring has a durable, easy-to-clean surface and requires only light, regular care. Avoid standing water, excessive moisture, steam cleaners and harsh detergents that could damage the floor or leave residue.

How to clean laminate flooring ?

Now that your new laminate floors are installed, the next question is: how do you keep them looking their best?

Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential to ensure your floors last for their maximum lifespan.

Like all wood or wood-composite floors, laminate should not be exposed to standing water. Always wipe up spills as soon as they happen.

  • Clean with a well-wrung microfibre mop and a cleaner suitable for laminate flooring.
  • Avoid soaking the floor or leaving standing water.
  • Remove cleaner residue as directed and leave the surface dry.
  • Wipe up spills promptly with a clean, slightly damp cloth.
  • For stubborn marks, use a cleaner approved for your laminate flooring.
  • Only use acetone if permitted in the product’s maintenance instructions.
  • Remove any residue with a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • For light stains (tea, coffee or cold drinks): Wipe with a clean, slightly damp cloth, then dry thoroughly.
  • For tougher stains (nail varnish or lipstick): Use a cleaner approved for your laminate flooring. Only use acetone if permitted in the product’s maintenance instructions.
  • Wipe away any residue with a clean, slightly damp cloth and dry the area thoroughly.

Everyday Protection

Protecting Your Laminate Floor

Small habits go a long way in keeping your laminate floor’s surface layer and photographic design intact.

Entrance Mats

Trap dirt at entrances using dirt-trapping rugs to stop grit and stones from scratching the surface.

Felt Pads

Use felt pads under furniture and rubber castors on chairs to prevent scratching and indentations.

UV Protection

Use blinds or curtains to block UV rays, which can fade the photographic design layer over time.

Rearrange Periodically

Move furniture and rugs every couple of years to distribute foot traffic evenly across the floor.
