Laminate Flooring
- Durable. Practical. Great Looking
What is laminate flooring
Laminate flooring is produced using 100% wood waste combined with resin, making it both resourceful and durable. The décor layer features a high-resolution photographic image printed onto paper, topped with an aluminium oxide wear layer for protection. This advanced manufacturing process allows laminate to mimic the look of solid wood and in some cases natural stone at just a fraction of the cost. Over the years, it has become one of the most popular flooring choices for both homes and offices.

However, Laminate Flooring is a relatively easy DIY project you can do by yourself as well. They are packaged and presented with grooves that click into each other, as a result the planks can easily be laid without much hassle. Additionally, they require no nails and screws as the flooring is a “floating floor” system installed on top of the subfloor.
Prior to laying the boards, it’s important to ensure that the subfloor surface is level, firm and completely dry. It is a requirement that a acoustic underlay with moisture barrier is installed beneath the boards. Due to the fact that wood expands, an expansion gap of a minimum 10mm should be left around all the edges where the floor meets the walls and all vertical obstacles

How to clean laminate flooring
Now that your new laminate floors are installed, the next question is: how do you keep them looking their best? Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential to ensure your floors last for their maximum lifespan.
Like all wood or wood-composite floors, laminate should not be exposed to standing water. Always wipe up spills as soon as they happen.
For everyday cleaning, convenience and care go hand in hand:
Use a damp microfibre mop or a vacuum with a brush attachment (avoid the beater bar) to remove dust and dirt.
Avoid excessive water and detergents, as these can damage the surface or leave residue.
For light stains like tea, coffee, or cold drinks, simply spray clean water onto a damp cloth or mop.
For tougher stains such as nail varnish or lipstick, a small amount of pure acetone (or a similar solution) will remove 99% of marks. Always wipe away any residue with a damp cloth afterwards.
With the right care, your laminate floors will stay beautiful and durable for years to come.
