Not all click flooring is the same
Parador Trendtime 6 and Black Forest Plus laminate installation and repairs
Installing or repairing Parador Trendtime 6 and Black Forest Plus laminate flooring starts with understanding the locking system. Laminate flooring locking systems vary, so the joints should be fitted and disengaged using the method specified for the exact product.
The long-side connection may work differently from the short-end connection. A board that folds down into place may need a release step before it can be removed.
Knowing that difference helps installers protect the surrounding boards when correcting an installation or replacing a damaged plank.

A locking profile is the shaped connection along the edges of a plank. It holds neighbouring boards together and helps the joints remain aligned.
Click systems vary in their construction. Some use a connection formed directly in the core material; others incorporate a flexible locking insert. Their installation and dismantling movements can differ.
Always identify the product and its locking profile before starting a repair. The colour, plank thickness or sound of the click cannot establish the correct removal method.
Compare the flooring locking systems
The locking profile determines the release method. Confirm the system on the supplied boards before starting.

Parador Trendtime 6 and Safe-Lock PRO
Parador Trendtime 6 laminate supplied by FINfloor uses Safe-Lock® PRO. Its château planks measure 2200 × 243 × 9 mm. The connection is formed directly in the HDF core board.
Follow the matching product leaflet during installation and check each joint before continuing.
How to disengage Parador Trendtime 6 laminate flooring
Parador’s standard plank guide describes this sequence:
- Lift the complete row from the groove side to release the long-side connection.
- Separate the row from the adjoining row and lay it flat.
- Slide the short-end joints apart sideways, across the plank width.
Check the product leaflet first. Parador herringbone has separate guidance.
Replacing a damaged Parador Trendtime 6 plank
The Safe-Lock PRO guide includes a separate procedure for cutting out a damaged plank and fitting a prepared replacement within the floor. Ask a professional installer to assess the repair and follow the illustrated detail.
Black Forest Plus laminate flooring and joint release
Black Forest Plus is FINfloor’s 2200 × 236 × 12 mm laminate range with a Black Compact Core+ HDF core. FINfloor’s current product listing identifies a Välinge 5G interlocking click system.
Before dismantling, match the instructions to the locking profile on the supplied boards.
Understanding a 5G locking insert
Välinge 5G Fold Down uses a flexible insert that moves during installation and locks the joint as the board reaches its final position.
Certain compatible 5G designs can be unlocked with a dedicated dismantling pin, which retracts the insert into its groove. That tool-assisted feature must be confirmed for the actual profile. The 5G name alone does not establish that every board accepts the same release tool.
If the product documentation identifies Unipush
If the documentation supplied with your Black Forest Plus boards identifies Unilin Unipush, follow the matching Unipush instructions.
Unipush is a one-piece profile without a separate locking insert. Unilin describes removal using a sliding or reverse-angling movement. A pin-release demonstration for an insert-based joint should therefore not be applied to a Unipush profile.
Planning a Black Forest Plus plank replacement
Before replacing a damaged Black Forest Plus board, confirm the locking profile, matching replacement stock and the approved repair method with FINfloor.
A joint-release demonstration does not establish how to replace a board in the middle of an installed floor. Access to the damaged area and the condition of the surrounding joints also need to be assessed.
A closer look at the 5G locking system
Välinge 5G Fold Down uses a flexible locking insert. As a compatible board folds into place, the insert moves into its groove and locks the joint.
FINfloor’s pin release demonstration shows how a compatible joint can be disengaged. Confirm the approved release method for your exact flooring profile before starting.
Parador Trendtime 6 uses Safe-Lock PRO and has its own dismantling instructions. A joint release demonstration also does not establish how to replace a plank in the middle of an installed floor.
Protect the joints during installation and repairs
Inspect the locking edges before fitting or reusing a board. Twisting, levering or forcing a connection in an unsupported direction can damage its profile.
Tick each item as you check the product and installation.
Keep spare planks and a record of the product details after installation. These make it easier to identify matching boards if a repair is needed later.

10 questions
No questions match your search. Try a different phrase or clear the search field.
Do Parador Trendtime 6 and Black Forest Plus use the same locking system?
They should not be treated as the same system. Parador Trendtime 6 uses Safe-Lock PRO, while FINfloor’s current Black Forest Plus listing identifies Välinge 5G. Follow the instructions matching the actual boards.
How do you disengage Parador Trendtime 6 laminate flooring?
Parador’s standard plank guidance describes releasing the complete row at the long side, laying it flat, then sliding the short-end joints apart sideways. Check the product leaflet before dismantling.
Can a damaged Parador Trendtime 6 laminate plank be replaced?
Yes. Parador provides an individual-board replacement procedure for Safe-Lock PRO laminate. A matching board and the specified repair technique are required; ask a professional installer to assess the repair.
What locking system does Black Forest Plus use?
FINfloor’s current Black Forest Plus product listing identifies Välinge 5G. Confirm the profile against the supplied product documentation, particularly when repairing an existing installation. If the documentation identifies Unipush, use its matching instructions.
How do you unlock Black Forest Plus laminate without damaging it?
First identify the fitted locking profile. Use its specified dismantling movement and approved tools. A release pin is suitable only for compatible profiles; avoid forcing an unfamiliar joint.
Can one damaged Black Forest Plus plank be replaced?
Replacement may be possible after assessing the installation and obtaining a compatible board. Ask FINfloor to confirm the repair method for the supplied locking profile before dismantling or cutting a plank.
Can the same release tool be used for Parador Trendtime 6 and Black Forest Plus?
Do not assume tool compatibility. A pin designed to release a flexible locking insert is not a universal flooring tool. Use only the dismantling tools specified for each product.
Can laminate planks be reused after dismantling?
Reuse depends on the board condition and the product guidance. Inspect the surface, core and locking edges. Damaged profiles or locking components need assessment before a board is refitted.
Does a thicker laminate plank use the same repair method?
Plank thickness does not determine the dismantling method. Black Forest Plus is 12 mm thick and Parador Trendtime 6 is 9 mm, but the locking profile determines how their joints should be disengaged.
