Antibacterial flooring

With the safety of our loved ones and keeping germs & bacteria at bay in our homes, which in most cases are now our current work environments and are of paramount concern to us at present, we are pleased to share with you that all three AGT laminate flooring ranges imported by Finfloor have been Antibacterial certified and tested by Hohenstein and conform to the recognised standards and tested with the following germs

  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae
  • Escherichia coli

The flooring surface is Antibacterial and has been tested and conforms to the following standards.

  • ASTM E2149

DIN EN ISO 20743 is a test used for “Textiles – Determination of antibacterial activity of textile products”, for which Hohenstein Laboratories test sample confirmed that the test sample has antibacterial activity against the bacterial test strains Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 4352. The antibacterial activity of the test sample must show at least a germ reduction of 2 lg steps (= 99 %) for both test strains compared to a control material.

  • ISO 22196

In accordance with the ISO 22196 standard “Measurement of antibacterial activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces”, Hohenstein Laboratories can confirm that the AGT flooring samples have antibacterial activity against the bacterial test strains Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Escherichia coli ATCC 8739. The antibacterial activity of the test sample must show at least a germ reduction of 2 lg steps (= 99 %) for both test strains compared to a control material, for which it did.

  • Antibacterial and skin flora neutral

In Accordance with DIN EN ISO 20743, and following a practice-oriented test that examines the influence of the antibacterial textile on human skin microflora. In this test an artificial model of the human skin where germ colonisation is present, typography and skin properties of healthy skin are simulated. THe effect of the test material on these 2 strains (Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 14990 and Micrococcus luteus ATCC 4698) is quantitatively analysed in a wear simulation on the artificial skin over a period of 18 hours and evaluated and compared to a the control material ( with no antibacterial activity). If no significant reduction of test strains occurs within this wearing/exposure period (reduction of germs <1 lg step compared to the control material), the textile is considered “safe” with regard to effects on the human skin flora.
